Blind/Visually Impaired

Description:

Collaborating with area districts to identify students (birth - 21) with significant visual impairments in order to address the educational needs of the student.

 

Services by Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired:

  • Obtaining and reviewing medical eye reports
  • Assessment
  • Provide direct/indirect service
  • Assist the team to ensure the learning environments are accessible
  • Refer students to a certified orientation and mobility specialist as needs arise
  • Educating the team about the student's needs
  • Attend vision appointments when requested
  • Refer transition age student (14 +) to State Services for the Blind
